The Brief

Located at 513 Rollins Avenue, Capitol Heights, Maryland, Project Phoenix is an approximately 20-acre 3 MW Solar Project – a first-of-its-kind renewable energy development in Prince George’s County. This solar farm was built on a brownfield site so that it could utilize a vacant site where soil is not suitable for residential structures. Sol Systems worked as the developer and continues to work as the asset manager on this project along with their partners Under Armour and Greenbacker. Greenbacker is the asset owner while Under Armour will purchase the energy from the system for its operations. Mayson-Dixon worked with Prince George’s County Department of Permitting, Inspections, and Enforcement (DPIE), the County Council, and local community associations to expedite permitting and stormwater management on this innovative project.
