Job Responsibilities

  • Lead the bid process for projects in various stages of design
  • Represent Mayson-Dixon Companies and Modern Builders independently in various meeting scenarios including site visits, design meetings, etc.
  • Maintain current knowledge and use of all local and state building codes and public funding source design standards
  • Perform commercial and residential construction take-offs
  • Assist with analyzing and coordinating plans and specifications
  • Assist with applying unit costs to develop conceptual estimates
  • Perform site analysis, cut fill studies, and geotechnical analysis
  • Solicit and build relationships with trade partners for projects
  • Under the guidance of the Chief ConstructionOfficer, work with COO and Team to finalize contract documents
  • Assist with creating construction budgets based on preliminary and schematic documents
  • Assist Chief Construction Officer with the architects, engineers, and owners in the development of plans and specifications that are within the proposed budget limitations
  • Assist with the trade partner bidding and scoping of projects to help develop construction budgets
  • Formulate and coordinate project bid campaigns; develop, coordinate, and issue all project correspondence to the project principles
  • Responsible for timely completion of assigned projects
  • Attend all required Company-wide meetings, training programs, etc.

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science in ConstructionManagement, Engineering, Business, or related discipline
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in estimating
  • Demonstrated ability to understand construction plans and specs
  • Knowledge of management fundamentals
  • Ability to use Phoenix scheduling
  • Ability to use Procore
  • Demonstrated ability to use Microsoft Excel and Word
  • Good communication, presentation, and organizational skills
  • Experienced with Phoenix, Insite, andOn-Screen Takeoff or similar estimating software
  • Knowledgeable with CSI format and ability to read and interpret plans and specs
  • General knowledge of construction industry, scheduling, contract law, and contract negotiations
  • Familiar with regional marketplace, pricing, and trade partner community
  • Project Lifecycle Training Rotation
  • Organized and detail oriented
  • Ability to multi-task and cope with many issues
  • Team player with ability to clearly communicate verbally and in writing
  • Ability to interact and function professionally with all parties
